StartsWithy.com (“StartsWithy”, “Starts With”) publishes free English-learning guides: word meanings, example sentences, grammar notes, word lists, idioms and comparisons of confusing words. This page explains what our guides are, and what they are not.
Educational information only
Our guides are learning aids for the English language. They are written for general educational purposes. We research each guide against trusted dictionaries, such as Cambridge, Oxford Learner’s and Collins, and we support factual claims with official or primary sources. Even so, we cannot promise that every page is complete, current or free of errors. Language changes, and usage can differ between countries, regions and situations.
Not professional advice
Some guides explain words connected with health, the body, feelings, law, money or other specialist topics. These pages explain the words as language. They are not medical, psychological, legal, financial or other professional advice, and they do not diagnose or label anyone. Always ask a qualified professional about your own situation.
Use of AI
AI tools help us organize research, draft content and create the illustrations on the site. AI is not the final judge of what is correct: content is checked against cited sources and audited before and after publication, and our founder, Robin Martin, is accountable for what we publish.
